As I have been telling you, I minimised my beauty routine quite a lot in the last few years. At least in my everyday routine: I got rid of the heavy foundations, cat eyes and layers of primers, powders and blushes. Having less on your face doesn’t mean you can’t keep on play with make-up. What’s better than lipstick to give your look a bold touch? Lipsticks are a perfect ally to complete your look but also to make a point: if I am wearing dark red, you better keep your distance!
Don’t mess with me
When I want to feel extra bold, nothing is better than an intense dark red or aubergine to complete a simple look. My favourite is Kiss Kiss So Plum! n. 561 from Guerlain. The colour is just the perfect balance between an intense violet and a dark brown-red. The texture is smooth without being to shiny and, even though it’s definitely a statement look, it doesn’t feel “too much” — even for someone that doesn’t like heavy make-up. The bolder the better!
Kiss me stupid
Who doesn’t have a “go to” red lipstick? Mine is Heat Wave by Nars. It’s bright and intense, and just a great option when I want to carry only the essentials. The classic red works in the winter as well as in the summer thanks to the hint of orange in the formula. I’ve used it for a couple of years now and it’s still the colour I always end up going back to. After all, you need some security in life!
Orange is the new red
Orange is the perfect colour for the ones who want to change without straying too far from their comfort zone. It also happens to be one of the best colours to rock during the summer and looks good on a lot of skin tones. I love orange lipsticks and I have a couple but my favourite is definitely Matte Mandarin n. 46 by Clinique. The pigments are incredibly bright and it lasts a long time without drying your lips out. Max effect that requires low maintenance — my kind of jam!
